Mice, mussels and mermaids

S: What could be a more perfect way to celebrate the end of another university semester, a new job, love and babies, than a surprise weekend away in a Cornish village called Mousehole staying in a boutique cottage?

Some things never change...

Looking due South...where would you find land next?

Do I, or do I not, look like I've eaten everyone else's ice cream as well as my own???!

An amble round the village to take photos and eat ice-cream somehow turned in to a five mile cliff top walk/scramble/stream hop/enchanted forest exploration...

…to a lovely little village called Lamorna.

...where we bumped into a new friend...

...and an old friend!

But no mermaids sadly.

Ready for a night out on the town...

We visited 2 Fore Street for a delicious meal of goat’s cheese and figs, roasted scallops with thyme and chestnut butter, fisherman’s stew, hake with pea puree and crispy pancetta, chocolate torte and saffron poached pears…heaven.

The above photos are of the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno. Performances have finished for the year but it was easy to imagine how atmospheric it must be to sit through a play in this breathtakingly situated theatre.

Land's End

Windy...

Twelve years without fish and chips and then...

which did go some way to making up for the lack of mermaids.
